A 4-member delegation led by Yoneoka, director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs, and Mari Hazumi, head of the Institute of Economics and Business at the Kumamoto Gakuen University (KGU) in Japan, visited the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR) on March 18, 2016. Such academic visits have been taking place annually since the establishment of the friendly ties between the two institutes.
In the morning, the “Academic Salon for Ph.D. Candidates in Theoretical Economics and Visiting Japanese Scholar Lectures” presided over by Prof. Yuan Yiming, vice director of the CCSEZR, was held at the Meeting Room 1500. Associate Prof. Okamura Kaoru at KGU delivered an excellent lecture titled "Tourism Marketing Strategies of Sustaining Repeat Visitors". According to Okamura Kaoru, tourist arrivals constitute a key element in the sustainable development of tourist destinations. Thus, to attract more repeat visitors, greater importance should be attached to the underlying tourism elements, for example, providing sufficient accommodations add to glamour of the destinations. Prof. Qiao Jinjian at KGU also delivered a rousing keynote speech titled "Foxconn Development Strategies with Focus on Foxconn-Sharp Capital Alliance". Prof. Qiao explained the process of the Foxconn-Sharp capital alliance and presented his key opinions that Foxconn's idea about the "Component Processing Plant Alliance" is quite sensible, but Sharp's conservative attitude towards fear of technology loss is totally inadvisable. Additionally, Prof. Qiao believed that capital alliances should be built on the premise of mutual respect.
In the afternoon, Prof. Tao Yitao, vice secretary of CPC Committee of Shenzhen University and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Shenzhen University, and director of the CCSEZR, together with Prof. Yuan Yiming and Prof. Gao Xingmin, vice directors of the CCSEZR, received the delegation at the CCSEZR’s meeting room with warmth. They held a panel discussion over the details of co-hosting an international academic conference in 2017 in celebration of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the cooperation between the two institutes and reached preliminary agreements. Dr. Huang Jiaping and Dr. Yong Wei, faculties of the CCSEZR, also attended the panel discussion.
