Prof. Tao Yitao, vice secretary of CPC Committee of Shenzhen University (SZU) and a State Council expert for special allowance, was appointed as an adjunct professor at Nankai University (NKU) on May 18, 2016 with Zhu Guanglei, vice president of NKU and a standing member of CPC committee of NKU, presenting the letter of appointment. Attendees include Prof. Pang Jinju, former vice president of NKU, Director of the Collaborative Innovation Center for the Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics (hereinafter “the Center”) and the Center for Studies of Political Economy (CSPE), NKU. Before the appointment ceremony, Prof. Tao Yitao and her entourage were received by Zhang Shiqi, vice secretary of CPC Committee of NKU and secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of NKU.
On behalf of all NKU faculty, vice president Zhu Guanglei warmly welcomed Prof. Tao Yitao’s board and her contributions to the teaching and scientific research undertakings of NKU. He emphasized that there are many opportunities and much potential for the cooperation between two universities and two key research bases of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, namely, CSPE, NKU and China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR), SZU as CSPE boasts of solid theoretical knowledge accumulated over the years while CCSEZR enjoys more opportunities and advantages in the sphere of innovation and practice as a university at the forefront of China’s Reform and Opening-up initiative. This event serves as a great opportunity for both sides to further intensify academic exchange, jointly advance the cooperation in disciplinary development, talent fostering, and think tank construction, thus contributing to the development of economics and economic and social development of China in the future. In her answering speech, Prof. Tao Yitao voiced her heartfelt delight of being appointed as an adjunct professor at NKU and her resolution to contribute to the development of the university.
After the appointment ceremony, Prof. Tao Yitao delivered an excellent academic lecture titled The Historic Contribution of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone to China’s Reform and Opening-up and Successful Experience Behind It.
Among the attendees of the appointment ceremony and academic lecture were Prof. Liang Qi, director of the School of Economics and deputy director of the Center, Prof. He Zili from the School of Economics, NKU and chief expert of the Center, and Prof. Zhong Ruoyu from SZU.
